Hypa, Ziedan's protagonist, is a monk retelling his story of the upheavals of this period in the early Christian Church, his own philosophical doubts about the dogma of the time, and his conversations with the devil. Participating in the event, in addition to the author, are César Martínez-Useros, Turner’s publishing coordinator, and Gonzalo Fernández Parrilla, advisor for the Turner Kitab collection. Azazeel is an historical fiction novel written by Youssef Ziedan that takes place in early 5th century Egypt, Syria, Israel and Turkey. in our Madrid auditorium (at Calle Alcalá, 62). As a part of this collection, the Turner publishing house is presenting the book Azazel, by Egyptian author Youssef Ziedan, on Tuesday, March 11 at 7:00 p.m. This project is based on the goal of bringing the rich literary universe of one of the cultures with the greatest traditions of narrative closer to Spanish-speaking readers. A long-time scholar, he won the second International Prize for Arabic Fiction (IPAF) for his historical novel Azazeel. The Turner publishing house, recently awarded with the prize for the Best Cultural Publishing Work in 2013, started up its new Turner Kitab book collection in October of last year, dedicated to contemporary Arab fiction.
